Payday in the Classroom! Mrs. Ingram’s students put their financial literacy and money math skills into action using Class Bank! Students received their weekly paychecks for their classroom jobs, deposited their checks and bonuses, calculated their checking account balances, transferred money into savings, and completed deposit slips for cash they earned throughout the week. Students can earn classroom money for answering questions, completing assignments, following our social contract, and making positive choices throughout the week. Then came everyone’s favorite part — budgeting and shopping at our classroom store! Students decided how much they could afford to spend and how much they wanted to save before buying rewards like fancy pens, Ring Pops, music passes, and classroom coupons. It may look like shopping, but a LOT of learning was happening! •Banking skills •Financial literacy •Addition & subtraction •Deposits & account balances •Budgeting, spending & saving •Real-world decision-making Real-world money skills + basic math practice + a little fun = a pretty great Friday! Our students continue to do an amazing job with attendance and have consistently met our campus goal of 96%! Because of their hard work and commitment to being at school, they voted to celebrate with a Pajama Day! Tomorrow, students can celebrate their great attendance by dressing comfortably in their favorite pajamas. Please remember that all pajamas must meet school dress code requirements. From August 12, 2026, through October 9, 2026, the Gifted & Talented Department is accepting referrals to screen for students who may exhibit gifted characteristics and benefit from current programming options in grades 1 and 3-12. Kindergarten and Grade 2nd are universally screened per state and local policy.
This program is designed for students who exhibit any singular or combination of the following abilities or potential to develop capabilities at an extraordinary cognitive level: intellectual, leadership, creativity, artistic, and/or academic achievement.
Services are provided only if the Gifted and Talented Identification Profile reveals an educational need upon assessment and if the need is determined to not be normally served within the general education classroom and could be served by the Gifted and Talented program initiatives.
If you have any questions about the GT identification and assessment process and could not attend this meeting, please contact the Gifted and Talented Coordinator, Eva Baker, by email at ebaker@splendoraisd.org. |
You may have noticed some recent text messages from Minga when your student receives a Praise at school! These messages are our way of sharing the great things your student is doing throughout the day. Parents will also receive a weekly Minga report showing the time their student spent out of class using a hall pass. This gives families another way to stay informed about instructional time and helps us encourage students to make the most of every minute at school. We are proud of our students!
Positive choices + time in class = student success! |

Our October Motto is: Think. Choose. Act. We’ll be encouraging students to think about their choices, choose what is right, and act in ways that reflect the person they want to become. 🐾
Capturing Kids’ Hearts Character Trait: Self-Direct This month, our students are focusing on the Capturing Kids’ Hearts character trait Self-Direct. Self-direction means taking responsibility for our choices, emotions, attitudes, and actions while working toward our goals. Students will be encouraged to think about where they want to go, make intentional choices, and take positive steps toward becoming the person they want to be.
Later this month, during Red Ribbon Week, we will put Self-Direct into action as students participate in activities and guidance lessons focused on making healthy choices, handling peer pressure, and staying drug-free. Students will explore how being self-directed can help them make positive decisions and take responsibility for the choices they make. At home, you can encourage self-direction by asking, “What is one goal you’re working toward, and what is one positive choice you can make today to get closer to it?”
Individual Planning Sessions with the Counselor As part of our comprehensive school counseling program, each student will have the opportunity to participate in two individual planning sessions with the counselor each school year—one in the fall and one in the spring. We will begin these sessions next week. These brief, one-on-one conversations are designed to help students reflect on their school experience, recognize their strengths, set goals, explore interests and future possibilities, and identify ways the counseling program can support them.
During these conversations, students may be asked questions such as: - How do you feel about how school is going for you right now?
- What is something you feel really good about?
- Is there anything that feels harder than you expected?
- When you think about your future, what are some things you'd like to do, be, or learn more about?
- What's one thing you'd like to get better at this year, and how can I help?
These conversations are a wonderful opportunity for students to connect with their counselor and know that they have someone at school who is ready to listen, encourage, and support them along the way.

The Splendora High School Class of 1980 helped us give each of our 19 first-year teachers a $200 Amazon gift card to use as they begin their teaching careers. What a thoughtful way for Wildcat alumni to welcome the next generation of educators! We’re grateful to the Class of 1980 for showing our teachers that the Splendora community is behind them from day one. Are you a Splendora alum who would like to give back? Reach out to us at educationfoundation@splendoraisd.org — we’d love to help you find a way to support today’s Wildcats! |
